To design, develop and deliver a tutor resource for adult learners to introduce different aspects of science and linking science to further learning options and career opportunities

Funded by Glasgow Clyde Education Foundation and developed in partnership between WEA and Glasgow Clyde College, Science for a Successful Scotland (3S) is a learning and teaching resource for tutors to use with learners. It aims raise the level of STEM literacy, numeracy and employability skills in our communities in line with The Scottish Governments’ STEM education and training strategy.

The aim of the Employability Fund Project is to help unemployed East Ayrshire residents aged 18+ move into sustainable work.

These workshops aim 1) to raise awareness of the nature and prevalence of dyslexia and 2) to highlight some strategies to help in the teaching environment

The basic I.T. course gives those who have no I.T. skills or are simply in need of a refresher the chance to learn computer skills in a supportive, caring and flexible environment. This course improves literacy and numeracy skills as well as IT skills and ultimately can lead on to improved confidence and self-esteem.

This short workshop aims to help ESOL tutors/practitioners who teach Roman Script to beginners.

This workshop was developed by and for ESOL tutors currently teaching Syrian New Scots. It is highly participative, drawing on the shared experience of participants. Feedback;

This workshop is aimed at supporting ESOL practitioners by raising awareness of cultural issues and their impact within the ESOL classroom.

To design, develop and deliver a tutor resource for adult learners with resources and activities to develop numeracy skills and an understanding of environmental issues and their impact on everyday lives.

The award-winning, Counting on a Greener Scotland tutor resource pack is the result of partnership working, innovative tutoring practices and student feedback from over ten years of the WEA’s involvement in Numeracy and Environmental studies. It was written in 2012 and updated in 2016 and has become increasingly important and highly relevant.
