Wish your WEA course would last a little bit longer? Now you can make it happen. This course can be used as an add-on to an existing course or programme of learning. Groups will develop the skills, knowledge and structures required to continue shaping their own learning through running autonomous ‘Learning Circles’. Learning circles will meet regularly to work on projects of their own choice and may request tutor-input in the future, where appropriate, and as funds allow.

Financial Literacies sessions help learners deal with the financial transactions they come across in their day-to-day lives, including understanding payslips, credit card costs, paying bills, and an overview of in- and out-of-work benefits. Designed around the needs, interests and numeracy levels of learners, these classes take some of the stress out of money-management.

The overall aim of the learning programme will be to enable participants to make better and more informed financial choices, to understand and manage a budget and equip them with the knowledge and skills to live a life free from debt. The course is aimed at low level ESOL learners

This course has been developed and piloted with a grant from the Bank of Scotland Foundation.

It is a well-established fact that accumulating and unmanageable debt is a fact of life for many families.

The course aims to build family resilience for the future, by providing parents/carers of primary school children with some insight and tools for raising confident children.

‘Survival English ESOL’ is a flexible programme aiming to equip those possessing basic language abilities with essential English skills. We encourage social connections and familiarity with local community and culture.

The programme will build learner confidence to engage in further learning and utilise established relationships with ESOL providers to provide progression routes.

The course aims ot build confidence and self esteem of students, and increase understanding of local and world events

This discussion group will give group members a chance to have a closer look at things that affect our everyday lives - what's on TV or in the papers, the things people do and why they do them, events in the local community or national and international affairs.

This project aims to increase the social connections and opportunities for non-native English speakers - in this instance Syrian New Scots - to use their English outside the classroom, using a peer education approach to encourage participation in collective actions to the benefit of the group and the local community.

To build the confidence and self esteem of students and help them to identify and work towards individual goals and aspirations.

Our project brings children’s and adult educators together to create awareness raising and training materials on how best to engage those hard to reach adults in the education of their children. We do this by providing adult and family learning opportunities within areas identified as having multiple deprivation. These courses aim to improve engagement between parents and the schools that their children attend.

The main aims of the Home School Link Project:

To design, develop and deliver a tutor resource for adult learners to introduce different aspects of science and linking science to further learning options and career opportunities

Funded by Glasgow Clyde Education Foundation and developed in partnership between WEA and Glasgow Clyde College, Science for a Successful Scotland (3S) is a learning and teaching resource for tutors to use with learners. It aims raise the level of STEM literacy, numeracy and employability skills in our communities in line with The Scottish Governments’ STEM education and training strategy.
