WEA Women@Work Information & Support Worker, Inverness
My primary role is to adminstrate and market the events we deliver and support our Local Network Co-ordinators. My background is in events administration and I have worked for a number of Highland community based organisations, so have an understanding of the challenges in delivering events across the Highlands.
The WEA Women@Work project aims to dismantle barriers caused by rural isolation, poverty and inequality, and to give women a voice in the home, at work and in the community. I enjoy the variety of the work and the mix of people I meet when going to some of the events we deliver. What has really empassioned me is to discover that there are many women in the Highlands from all backgrounds who have engaged with this project.
My vision for the Women@Work project is that the project continues, evolves and adapts to the needs expressed by those who attend the events. There is no other project of its kind in the Highlands and I believe this project can help give women the connection and confidence they seek, will have long lasting effects for them and their community and ultimately society.
