Kathleen Richardson
Area Education Manager – West Central and South West Scotland, Glasgow, Grangemouth and Kilmarnock
I am responsible for all of our provision in West Central and South West of Scotland including membership support, ESOL, Adult Literacies and Employability Services in workplaces and in communities. Partnership working and contributing to strategic and planning groups are an important part of my role. I bring many years of experience of managing person–centred, quality services and educational activity to my role.
It is a source of pride for me to work for the WEA. I love being involved in developing and delivering provision which makes a difference to people’s lives. I’m passionate about adult learning in general and see it as a valuable barometer of the health of our democracy as well as well as a demonstration of our commitment to fairness and equality. Chances to learn and contribute must be available throughout life. It’s a key part of a route to a better and fairer society.
In my experience, staff in the WEA are some of the most committed and hard–working people, both educational delivery staff and those behind the scenes. Our educational staff are creative and committed adult educators and have a passion for their work.
I would like to see WEA Scotland strengthening its place in the world of adult learning and look forward to more conversations with partners and colleagues are about what we can do together to bring more, quality adult learning experiences to more people.
