The Personal Assistants Network Scotland is a Scottish Government funded project to provide an independent support network to Personal Assistants employed directly by the person they support via Self Directed Support

The Personal Assistants Network Scotland is the only national independent support network for Personal Assistants working under Option 1 of a Self Directed Support Social Care Package.

The Personal Assistants Network Scotland feeds into the Scottish Government Self Directed Support Change Map to ensure that Personal Assistants have the appropriate skills, knowledge, values and confidence to develop their own role and to provide the best possible assistance to the supported person to ensure all agreed outcomes are met.

Without the network support Personal Assistants (PAs) could be in danger of becoming isolated, disconnected, working on their own and struggling to cope when faced with difficult situations. It can sometimes take time to establish a professional relationship with an employer due to the working nature of the role. Our support helps PAs to source advice and help with all aspects of their job.

Through the project, WEA provide
- a safe place/forum for PAs to seek peer support, help and advice from ourselves and other PAs where appropriate
- telephone and email support offering guidance, support and signposting where necessary
- independent advice and support including legal advice, advocacy and mediation services
- online support via website and social media to best suit your local area as well as nationally

The PA Network Scotland is a place where PA voices are heard and we can then feed their views into the wider social care change map within Scotland.
