Laurie Walker
Education Support Assistant
I have been working with the WEA for a year now and I am currently working with the ESOL project.
My main role is managing the database that all ESOL learners are registered on and to ensure that the information that we hold is as up to date and clean as possible. I also offer support to all ESOL learners who have any queries or concerns on the ESOL process. I also offer support to the WEA tutors and various partners who deliver ESOL classes. It is my duty to contact learners when a class placement is offered to them and ensure that their information is updated on the database.
I thoroughly enjoy my role within the WEA as I know that what I do plays an important part towards potential learners achieving a better quality of life. I love receiving feedback on how their journey has changed their life and has given them the opportunities that most take for granted. I genuinely believe that access to learning allows vulnerable people to feel included and ESOL classes strive towards creating a more equal society.
