This workshop is aimed at supporting ESOL practitioners by raising awareness of cultural issues and their impact within the ESOL classroom.
The workshop identifies the ways in which culture can impact in the ESOL classroom, and through the use of practical examples, shows how an understanding of this is essential for the promotion of effective teaching and learning. Without this understanding, barriers experienced by individual learners may not be recognised by ESOL tutors. The workshop provides some practical strategies in this context, underlying the importance of mutual respect and cultural awareness within the learner group.
