Workplace Learning is a growing area of work. It includes a national partnership with UNISON and public sector employers to offer workers Return to Learn courses.
The WEA Scotland has also developed and introduced to Scotland the innovative lifelong learning model Job Rotation.
Working in partnership with trade unions, employers, Local Authorities, local enterprise networks and the Scottish Executive, the Workers' Educational Association continues its unbroken 100 year record of developing and delivering a wide range of workplace learning activities. We enable thousands of low paid workers to earn while they learn.
Return to Learn (R2L)
The WEA/UNISON R2L programme has developed and expanded through national employer partnership arrangements with public sector organisations.
Job Rotation
Piloted by the WEA's sister organisation (AOF) in Denmark in 1993, the Job Rotation model of lifelong learning supports social inclusion, company and staff development by providing adult education and vocational training for staff. It creates paid work experience and training for previously unemployed people who substitute for workers released for paid educational leave.
Adult Literacy and Numeracy
The WEA wholeheartedly endorses the Scottish Executive's definition of literacy:
Preparation for Retirement Programme
These courses explore the changes which will take place as a result of retirement, providing opportunities for older workers to adjust, prepare and develop a positive attitude to their future.
